Cunningham House children

A group of missionaries' children taken outside the "school room" window at Cunningham House, in Edinburgh. The parents of these children were in various mission fields in Africa, India, China and Jamaica. Holding the baby is Miss Cunningham who gave the house to the Church of Scotland - she also gave the money to build the Annandale Hospital at Lubwa. Standing behind her is Miss Wilkie who was in charge of House and children. Nessie, (aged 8) wearing glasses, is in front of her mother. David (aged 5) is in front of Miss Wilkie. Cunningham House is still in use today. Children of school age are taken, but stay with their parents during furlough and nowadays sometimes they even fly abroad to be with their parents more often.
